I can't remember a time when I was not interested in health. As a kid, I remember reading about exercise and diets in Family Circle Magazine. I wound up at Cornell University majoring in Nutrition, then on to Tufts University for a dietetic internship. Back in the 70's, most nutritionists were employed in hospitals and I soon learned that hospital settings did not suit me well.
I went from gloomy to glamorous, working myself up the corporate ladder in retail and marketing. With each rung on the ladder I climbed, so did my stress and cortisol levels. I found my way to Dr. Herbert Benson's office, signing up for his first Mind Body Program. I didn't realize it then, but that program would change my life. I embraced meditation and yoga...I had come home.
A move to North Carolina and an auspicious encounter with the only yoga teacher in town would confirm that I was destined to teach yoga. Back to Boston pursuing ten more years of training, I earned multiple levels of advanced certification under the highly respected Iyengar yoga organization.
Now at 53, I have owned my studio in Brookline Village for over ten years. It is a home studio which makes it very special. My students and I together have created a unique environment where we learn and practice yoga in a beautiful space supported by pillars and each other.
